"Family Reconnect has been such a positive support and influence in my recovery journey, even if you feel you are doing the right thing, having the encouragement of others in a similar situation and expert advice of trained professional’s aids immensely in attaining peace and clarity.

As a parent, of an addict you often feel helpless, ashamed, and scared, isolated – desperate drowning in guilt and isolation. I looked for help and decided initially to try Al-Anon, as Family Reconnect was not up and running yet. I appreciate Al-anon but I really needed to connect with others that were in a similar scenario as mine, and I needed to be able to talk about my feelings, my fears and hear others that shared  similar challenges. Family reconnect has given me a platform to connect with others – to hear advice from Tom, Ben and Dr. T and even occasionally to be able to share my experience/ and my support with other members- that ability to help another in crisis  is also really cathartic.

Being surrounded by other individuals dealing with a similar situation with their  family members- made me feel deeply  understood.  I learned that I’m not alone, that addiction is a disease—not a failure—and that taking care of myself is just as important as supporting my child.
There is help, there is healing, and there is a community here ready to walk beside you. You don’t have to do this alone."
